Leucorrhoea
(vaginitis) is the medical term used to describe the condition in females where
there is an abnormal, foul smelling, slimy, mostly whitish (sometimes greenish
and/or yellowish) discharge from the vagina. This is accompanied by irritation,
inflammation and redness of the vagina.
Normal
vaginal discharge however serves as a routine housecleaning exercise to flush
out harmful bacteria and other potentially harmful micro-organisms. This odourless
pale genital activity is normal to promote a healthy vagina.
You should
know this;
There are two types of leucorrhoea
PSYCHOLOGICAL: Discharge
due to nervous events like excitement (which should not be a cause of worry).
It occurs in situations like hormonal changes in girls due to puberty, sexual
excitement, during ovulation and pregnancy.
PATHOLOGICAL: Discharge
due to unhealthy happenings like general ill health, unhealthy nutrition, and
infections in genital tracts. A feeling of weakness tiredness, dragging
sensation in the abdomen, pains in the lumbar regions and calves as well as
constipation, frequent headaches (migraines) and intense genital itching are
associated symptoms. This you should be a worry and thus our recommendations.

Leucorrhoea
(pathological) if not attended to in the early stages continues for several
consecutive weeks and months. It can become a chronic problem if left unchecked
for a while and can negatively affect the reproductive organs.

Bacterial

We however
is concentrating on the dietary adjustments that needs to be done to help in
remedying the condition and thus, we give you a few tips below.
DIET CHOICES
TO REDUCE/PREVENT LEUCORRHOEA
Even if you
are on medical treatment, following diet recommendations are a must for a
quicker and permanent recovery.
Banana: Eating very ripe or ripe banana is a great habit in
the treatment of leucorrhoea. You can accompany your banana with either milk or
honey. Mash two or more fingers of banana and mix with either milk or honey at
least twice a day. If you become fed-up with that, you can slightly cook the
banana and eat it with vegetables as salad.
Okra/Okro: A decoction (extraction of juices) of okra when
drunk for a couple of weeks will surely help in remedying leucorrhoea. Wash
okra, and cut them into pieces, boil into water (preferable each 200 grams is
to 1 liter) on low burn/flame. Sieve and drink the extracts (you can add honey
to better the taste).
Dried ginger
powder: Add two (2) teaspoons of dried ginger powder to
water (250ml) and boil till the water is reduced by halve. Drink to help remedy
your leucorrhoea.
Rice and
water (rice water): This is an age-old remedy for leucorrhoea. Boil
rice in water and drink the water after it cools whiles you suffer leucorrhoea.
Balanced diet: Adopting a
diet balanced in fruits,
vegetables, nuts, seeds and grains is key to developing good immunity that will
subsequently aid in managing or reducing the likelihood of you developing
leucorrhoea. Eating lots of fruits
and vegetables especially, will provide you with vitamins and minerals to aid
in fighting genital infections that is causing your leucorrhoea.
Avoid these foods: In trying to stop leucorrhoea, you must reduce to
minimum amounts or stop eating;

white
sugars,
·
white flour,
·
condiments
(ketchup, pickles, mayonnaise, barbeque sauce, butter, and salad dressing),
·
fried or
greasy foods
totally stop (or at least till you are cured)
·
the drinking
of caffeinated tea,
·
coffee
Why you should STOP drinking Coke, Pepsi, Fanta (SODAS)
These foods
are believed to increase the intensity of your smelly whitish discharge
(leucorrhoea).
Maintain a general healthy dietary habit: Making right healthy diet choices will play to a
positive outcome in you managing your leucorrhoea.
OTHER TIPS

Keep clean
underwear/panties
·
Exercise
·
Get enough
and good sleep
·
Keep good
personal hygiene especially around vagina.
When to seek medical attention
Once you
realize you have leucorrhoea, it is advisable to speak with your Doctor.
However, it should be a matter of emergency when the colour of the discharge
turns greenish, yellowish or brownish or lumpy with has a foul smell as well as
prolonged related irritation with inflammation of genitals.
CONCLUSION
The main
recommendation to manage leucorrhoea, is adopting a general healthy diet habit.
Even if your doctor puts you on some medications, always accompany it with the
