WHY BREAKFAST IS THE MOST IMPORTANT MEAL OF THE DAY | NUTALK

Okay you might have come across somewhere that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and asked yourself, why not lunch or supper?.
There are several reasons that make breakfast so important to have it placed in the number one (1) position.

SO WHAT IS EVEN BREAKFAST?
As can be noted that, it is simply the joining together “BREAK” and “FAST” to form the word (BREAKFAST). “FAST” is meant to point to the fact that you most likely haven’t eating since you went to bed at night and thus in a sense is fasting. When you do wake-up in the morning and eat something, you are supposedly “breaking” that fast.

OKAY WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT?

SHORT – MEMORY SCORE
Studies done on both adults and young people revealed that, after having skipped breakfast their score comparatively on short-memory test are poor against those whose had eating food for breakfast. You don't want this to happen to you at work or school where quick remembering of things you just read is extremely important.

Stop is you thinking coffee?
A study compared the memory performance of people who had coffee alone and those who had food for breakfast. Results of the research showed a poor performance/score on memory test for the “coffee-people”.
All your body needs every morning for breakfast is nutritious food composed of lots of wholemeal foods, water, less oil, vegetables and fruits.

CONCENTRATION LEVEL
Our brain after long hours of not having adequate supply of energy maps-out a strategy to conserve the limited energy. What it actually does is to reduce the use of available energy by cutting back on some functions. It is at this point that you start to lose concentration and can't seem to get simple thing done right. This also comes with hunger-induced migraines (headaches). You don’t want this to happen to you when you writing an exam paper or need to finish an agent report asap.

UNHEALTHY CRAVINGS
Now, you have not eating since going to bed last night and your store of energy is vastly depleted, what you mind actually starts to do according to studies, is to crave more for immediate sources of energy. You most likely after skipping breakfast  tend to go for high calorie/sugary and complex-carbohydrate foods. All this will have a negative effect on nutritional outlook and lead to on-called-for health complications like obesity/weight gain.

HEART HEALTH
Chronic breakfast-skippers according to research tend to have increased risk of developing heart disease and diabetes as result of consequential high cholesterol (whit fat), high insulin levels as well as high low density lipoproteins (LDL).

ENERGY CRISIS
It simple fact that, going for long hours without food causes your body to dig-into your store of energy and ultimately leave you in an energy crisis. What happens at this point is what you can conveniently call “LOAD SHEDDING” in which the body tries to equally share available energy. This leaves you whole system functioning in “power saver” mode and affects your reflexes, speech and more. Why let this happen to you, grab breakfast always.

CONCLUSION
Don't skip breakfast because you think you are late or just in the mode to eat cause you sure to reap what you did not sow.
