TIPS ON HOW TO GET YOUR CHILD'S FEEDING PATTERN BACK TO A HEALTHY NORMAL | NUTALK

You might observe for a while you child’s eating habits has changed and he/she doesn’t like to eat. This, you should be worried about and actually map-out measures to get them eating well again.

First and foremost, what you need to find-out is your child medically healthy (don’t have any sickness).

After you have gotten this important information and it says everything is okay with them, then below are measures to get your agenda a success peer.

VARIETY
Your child might not be eating because, ‘it’s the same meal type everyday’ and he/she has grown a serious dislike for it. What you need to do is actually go all the way to bring variety to the kitchen and it doesn’t have to be a new dish every time. You can always prepare same food type but twist the ingredients and the mode of preparation.

FAVOURITE MEALS
Every child has a meal that somewhat increases their appetite and if allowed will want to eat it every day. You should therefore make use of this by making them their meals in times like this. You can always add a little twist as well.

APPEARANCE
Child communicates more with what they see and will actually be more curies on investigating what that nice looking dish taste like. Make it a necessary point to enhance the presentation of the dishes as well as varying the appearance.
Bring colour to foods by combining a variety of nutritious ingredients (do not add food colour).

DISTRACTIONS
Now there is variety and enhanced appearance but the child is refusing to eat much. Is the television on? Or are there other things that can act as distractions? Children especially get distracted easily and love to play as you already know. Eating time should be a special thing and the child’s total concentration should be on nothing else but the food in the plate/bowl. Turn off all distractions like sounds etc.

REWARD
Children enjoy been rewarded for their achievements and always has room for another reward. Therefore reward them for having eating well today and the will reply with another day of eating well. Simple reward like clapping your hands and kissing them on the cheek will always do. You can always go all the way with your reward too.

KEEP THE SMILE SWITCH ON
Keep smiling and encouraging them to eat it works. They don’t have to eat all the food at a sitting but congratulate them for every small amount they eat.

LET DADDY GET IN THERE
Let daddy do the feeding sometime and it might work with he been a different person as it were.

REMEMBER: never force you child to eat because you end-up either by mobbing the flow of vomit or having him/her scared of meal times.
