Reading Genesis 5: 3-36, you will take great
notice of the numbers each early man managed to achieve in terms of his age
count with the lowest being Enoch (who
despite ranking last, recorded a whopping 365 years).
The question is; how did
these people manage to attain these high age numbers since God loves us no less?
A probable answer could be that they ate natural
foods and had nothing to do with processed foods.
Alright, moving from that background let’s talk “maggi”.
Maggi is a product
of Nestle and used by lots of people across the world (especially Africans) for
the sole reason of enhancing taste in meals. The other side of the coin is that
its components can be very harmful to an individual’s health if chronically consumed.
Maggi cubes basically
contain (in unhealthy amounts):
Sodium:
Excessive amounts of sodium increases your chances of developing high blood
pressure which consequentially lead to heart disease, stroke, heart failure and
kidney disease.
Hydrogenated
Oils: These were
once-healthy oils that have been processed into extremely harmful trans-fats.
Trans-fats are well-associated with increase in bad/white-fats/Low-density Lipoproteins
(LDL) cholesterol with a corresponding decrease in good/brown-fats/HDL cholesterol. This
increases your chances of developing artery- blockage (arteriosclerosis) leading
to hypertension.
Mono-Sodium
Glutamate: This is responsible
for the taste Maggi’s brings to your dishes. Though Nestle says it uses safe amounts,
it is still not a healthy inclusion.
GOOD
SIDE
Maggi
cubes have recently been fortified with micro-nutrients like iron.
CONCLUSION
Come
to think of it, have we developed a sweet tongue or we just don’t want to eat healthy?
The
use of species like garlic, ginger and more if mixed right will bring great
taste to your meals.
The choice is yours to make!!
